HI, I’M MEGHAN

By the end of your photo session, I'll be your new best friend.   (insert my kid's eye roll here)

I have yet to meet a stranger and absolutely love hearing people's stories.

Why does that matter to you?  Well, because I genuinely care about every person I photograph- that inspires me to create lots of authentic photos of that represent  the joy and sweet nostalgia that come with being fully human.

You'll be seen and celebrated in every photo I create for you.

I started Gathering Light Photography in 2005 with the intention of shining a light on the real people before my camera

I studied journalism and creative writing in college, so I love a good story and each person I get to photograph has their own story to tell.

I live in Portland and am a mom to two teenagers.  And when I think of how fast time has passed and how much longer we'll all live under one roof together, I get a lump in my throat.

Understanding that deep love and the desire to create and preserve precious memories runs deep within me and I infuse that in my work.

The difference

There are so many great photographers- here's how I'm  a little different.

We start with you.  Yes, I have a million ideas, locations and tips to make your photo session with me beautiful and special (and I'll tell you them all- BUT. . . I'd like to know what you want first.  Is there something that you'd like to do or go to because it's special to you. . . what lights you up?  I want to know that first and create photos around that.

What I

believe

Loved people love people.  So the more I can spread love and genuine compassion, that's my small way to make the world a more beautiful place.

What I'm

learning

I'm always learning something new.  Right now I'm in a dance era- been taking adult ballet class and got certified in Qoya somatic movement and dance.

What I'm

not about

Phoning it in. Meh. Mid.
I really, really, really believe that each session I do will be unique because each person I photograph is unique.

what I

believe

Kindness wins. There's no such thing as "over-sensitive."  Salt water is the cure for everything. . .my grandmother said so.
